Hello! My name is Bo and I am an intern at the American Red Cross in Westchester County. Currently, I am an MPA student majoring in Nonprofit Management at Pace University.
I feel that the Red Cross is one of the most popular nonprofit organizations in America and around the world. Its history, popularity and the services that the Red Cross offers are what first attracted me to apply for an internship. This is my first internship, and I thought it would be a perfect place to learn and practice the skills I have learned while in school. I have learned much more than I ever expected interning in Communications. While interning, I performed internet research, data entry, updated social media, and practiced marketing strategies. The staff is very nice; they helped me with difficulties and taught me new things. It has been a great first step for me!
I strongly suggest that students looking for their next internship should look into the American Red Cross in Westchester County. Students will be able to learn how the Red Cross works and operates, assist with various administrative duties, and be given the independence to work on projects. The hands-on experience is going to help them to learn many things that can not be gained from books and classes alone. There are opportunities to volunteer and intern at the Red Cross in disaster services, blood services, preparedness, and marketing. Check out this link to read about all of the internship/volunteer possibilities: http://www.westchestercounty.redcross.org/wcRCGetInvolved.html. The Red Cross also provides many great classes to help keep people and the people around them safe. Be sure to take a look at the Red Cross’s class schedule at http://www.westchestercounty.redcross.org/index.html.
